LEED Gold Sports Facility

The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre stands as a premier multi-purpose facility serving athletes, spectators, and community members alike. Featuring an Ice Arena, Gymnasium, Fitness Center, and Squash Courts, this versatile venue successfully hosted the 2019 Canada Winter Games while earning LEED Gold certification. The Centre designed by Stantec features a glowing, dynamic roof that projects toward the city, creating a symbol of the connection between the college, community, and Waskasoo Creek.
Scott Builders overcame significant engineering challenges—including custom truss installation and innovative geothermal integration—to deliver a sustainable community cornerstone that continues to provide energy efficiency and accessibility for all users.
Clark Builders utilized Building Information Modeling which played a critical role in the preconstruction of the facility prior to design finalization. The preconstruction of various building assemblies, including modular curtain-wall systems, were incorporated. Also featured in this project was Alberta’s largest rooftop solar installation performed by Clark Builders’ Alternative Energy team.
