About

DIALOG is an integrated design practice of architects, planners, engineers, designers, and sustainability experts. Our passion for sustainable design and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction extends practice-wide and is supported by our in-house team of expert consultants in Sustainability and Building Performance.

DIALOG routinely provides many of the services envisioned under the Retrofit Vendor Network, including energy/GHG benchmarking, ASHRAE Level I, II and III energy and water audits, calibrated energy models, decarbonization roadmaps, measurement & verification plans, as well as provision of detailed design and implementation support through our expanded architecture and engineering teams.

We are passionate about design. We believe it can, and should, meaningfully improve the wellbeing of our communities and the environment we all share.

Our multidisciplinary team of more than 600 staff includes architects; urban planners; interior designers; structural, mechanical and electrical engineers; and landscape architects. We practice across Canada and the US from studios in San Francisco, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto.

DIALOG has been designing positive change in communities since 1960. Although our work has attracted many awards over this span, we consider a project truly successful when it is embraced by its end users and its community.

Highlights

As a fully integrated design firm, DIALOG is a proponent of the integrated design process (IDP) as a method of identifying better solutions and leveraging the expertise of a diverse team of consultants and stakeholders. We are passionate advocates for regenerative development that is net-positive: reducing resource consumption through innovative approaches while maximizing the positive impact on the local ecology and the surrounding community. Our passion has led us to design many of Canada’s first projects that are certified under leading-edge definitions for regenerative and Net-Zero, such as the Living Building Challenge, Net-Zero Energy, and Net-Zero Carbon as outlined by the Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Standard.
