AEEA Operations Contractor – April 2024

 

Background

The Alberta Energy Efficiency Alliance (AEEA or Alliance) is a membership-based organization with a mission to increase the uptake of energy efficiency in the province. There are currently over 60 members that include companies providing energy efficiency products and services, utilities, municipalities, industry associations, non-profit organizations and individuals.

The Alliance plays a prominent role in raising awareness around the benefits of energy efficiency, convening conversations with members and other stakeholders in the province, and advocating for the development of new policies and programs to increase the uptake of energy efficiency in all sectors. 

Role and Responsibilities

The AEEA is looking for a flexible candidate to support the Executive Director in all aspects of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Supporting management of the organization including management of contractors and projects, member engagement, financial management, and organizational communications.

  • Research related to energy efficiency and demand side management (DSM), and development of related communications materials

  • Promoting AEEA materials and activities as well as general promotion of energy efficiency insights from other organizations and jurisdictions

  • Maintaining relationships and being a spokesperson for energy efficiency in Alberta with government and industry stakeholders

  • Supporting the planning and execution of one or more energy efficiency events throughout the year

  • Supporting the development and delivery of multi-year strategic plans and annual business plans for the organization

Major projects that the role is expected to be involved in include:

  • Supporting the advancement of DSM policy in the province through stakeholder engagement and a multi-year demonstration project

  • Development of a trade ally network to support deep energy retrofits for large buildings

Qualifications and Skills

This position requires the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 4-year bachelor’s degree

  • Strong organization and communication skills

  • Ability to work relatively independently

  • Past experience working in energy efficiency or a related field

The following skills and experience would be an asset to the position:

  • Knowledge and experience of energy efficiency technologies, practices, programs and policies

  • Knowledge and experience working on demand side management policies and/or programs

  • Knowledge and experience related to trade ally networks for energy efficiency programs

  • Past training and experience related to project management, stakeholder engagement, communications, financial management, organizational management and strategic planning.

Term

This position is expected to be a 3-year contract to align with the AEEA’s upcoming major projects (with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent contract should funding allow). 

Hours and Compensation

This position is expected to be full-time (minimum 30 hours per week on average) and will have an hourly rate benchmarked with similar organizations based on the level of experience of the successful candidate.
