Reimagined 1912 Building Achieves LEED Gold
From the archives: Retrofit Vendors Clark Builders, FWBA Architects (under the partnership of NFWBA Architects), RJC Engineers and Introba restore and adaptively reuse the former King Edward School (c. 1912) into the cSPACE arts hub. The first phase involved a full restoration of the 1912 heritage building, including the relocation of the existing sandstone chimney, sandstone repairs, full mechanical and electrical replacement, and restoration of the original windows and casings. In the second phase, the team replaced the roof while maintaining an operational parking lot and stairwell for the occupants of the building. The windows were integrated into the building’s heating and cooling system, resulting in a more sustainable and energy-efficient system.
