Highlights
200-Block Banff Avenue Redevelopment Competition: KSAS, in collaboration with Alison Brooks Architects, Townshend Landscape Architects, and Arup, was shortlisted as one of six finalists for the prestigious RAIC design competition for the Banff Visitor Centre and mobility hub. The net-zero sustainable mass-timber proposal was widely celebrated.
Calgary REX Award (Industrial Development of the Year): KSAS was a key design partner alongside Leeswood Design Build for the ROSEN Canada facility, which won the NAIOP Calgary Real Estate Excellence (REX) Award in the Industrial Development category.
ACl Excellence in Concrete Award: KSAS collaborated with Tetra Tech Canada on the Lethbridge Organic Processing Facility, which was celebrated for outstanding design and concrete construction.
Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) Award: Celebrated with a Showcase Award of Excellence for their architectural role in the municipal Modern Integrated Waste Management Facility in Lethbridge.
CAHP Certified Heritage Professionals:
KSAS holds official credentials with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP), allowing the firm to lead major adaptive-reuse and historical conservation projects.
Adaptive Re-use Expertise: KSAS is managing the historic preservation of the 1911 Stephenson Block for Calgary’s new Scotia Place arena. To accommodate stadium excavation, the firm engineered a solution to meticulously disassemble the Edwardian brick structure. KSAS will reassemble and integrate the historic facade into the modern arena footprint, repurposing the building as a vibrant concourse food hall. This adaptive reuse strategy seamlessly bridges Calgary’s heritage with advanced stadium design, activating the pedestrian streetscape while meeting modern building codes.
