IPD delivers sustainable Fire Station

Red Deer Fire Station No 4 was delivered via Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). The delivery team employed Building Information Modeling. The City of Red Deer requested the project meet a minimum of LEED Silver requirements. Overhead radiant heat tubes and a Niederman direct capture system to accommodate the CO2 from the vehicles were installed in the apparatus bay. The project uses a high-efficiency water-cooled Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system with condensing boilers that inject heat when required and dry coolers that reject the heat from the building.   Energy recovery ventilators were used to maximize outdoor air delivery efficiency.  Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) are equipped on all motors.  Advanced Direct Digital controls (DDC) were utilized within the entire building.
