Applied Energy Consulting Case Study: Town of Slave Lake

AEEA is pleased to add to our Resource Library this case study prepared by Retrofit Vendor Applied Energy Consulting.
The Town of Slave Lake Government Centre & Library was reconstructed following the 2011 Slave Lake wildfire and achieved LEED certification.
AEC’s challenge was to determine how much additional performance could be extracted from an already-efficient facility through operational optimization, improved controls, ventilation refinement, tighter system integration, targeted capital improvements and longer-term energy planning.
AEC conducted a whole-building engineering investigation including site investigation; mechanical, electrical , and building envelope assessment; BAS/control review; energy modelling; financial evaluation of Energy Conservation Measures; and development of an implementation-oriented retrofit roadmap.
AEC’s Implementation Roadmap identified substantial energy and GHG reduction opportunities through Near Term Operational Optimization, Medium Term Targeted Capital Improvements, and Long Term roof rehabilitation and rooftop solar PV.
