Tradespeople Transitioning to VDC Roles – Program Extended

| Looking to augment your VDC team with construction trades experience? AEEA is pleased to share this program update on behalf of our friends at Alberta Construction Association. Trades knowledge is critical to effective collaborative project delivery for successful building retrofits. Check out this great program offered by Alberta Construction Association. Alberta Construction Association is pleased to share that the program has been extended, with new opportunities in the Tradespeople Transitioning to VDC Roles program stream available through February 28, 2027. This extension allows more employers and skilled tradespeople to take advantage of funded training and work experience placements that support the transition into Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) roles. Program Info Register Now Through this program, employers can access: Wage subsidies of up to $20,000 per participant Up to $5,000 in additional support for VDC software licenses Support for structured work experience placements (minimum 200 hours) in VDC-focused roles. Participants complete a series of short, flexible online training modules in order to support work experience placement, helping bridge the gap between on-site experience and digital construction workflows. Current employees or new hires are eligible as long as they have a background in skilled trades, construction management, or other on-site work in construction. Placements positions must include new responsibilities relevant to VDC (both full-time and part-time VDC roles may be considered).
