Emissions-Neutral Fire Station connected to district energy
Several Retrofit Vendors collaborate via Integrated Project Delivery for this LEED Silver targeted fire station. Group2 was the project architect and Chandos the general contractor.
Two separate mechanical rooms are located in this space. One supports the equipment associated with the facility’s connection to the Blatchford District Energy Sharing System, which provides environmentally friendly heating, cooling and hot water. The other room supports traditional heating and cooling equipment.
Along with being connected to the District Energy Sharing System, this emissions-neutral building uses a rooftop solar photovoltaic array and various high-efficiency building systems to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a result, the facility is anticipated to achieve LEED Silver but may achieve LEED Gold certification.
Additionally, the fire station design incorporated a high-performance building envelope system and Low Impact Development.
